After reading this article figured i'd write one up of my little experience.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I totaled my EVO 8 a few months back, the insurance company toyed around with me for another month or two. First collision shop added power steering and air conditioning, PS wasn't damaged and A/C didn't exist. After that experience, I took it to another body shop since the first body shop was filled with incompetent idiots. Second body shop added a wheel and tire, neither of those were damaged in the accident. At first I was rooting for the car not to be a total loss but I gave up all hope since the body shops are out for blood and money.

Fast forward a bit, they totaled the car out. I bought it back. The car was built to be a road race car before the accident took place. The journey to go from a total loss to track worthy started. The car needed the core support replaced, hood, fenders, front bumper and the ACD (active center differential) reservoir replaced, along with two headlights. According to Mitsubishi the cost of a front bumper with all mesh inserts and such, wait for it... $2,000. The hood, that's another whopping $1,800. I was in disbelief, and obviously the cost of these parts are the reason the car was a total loss. I brought it into my friend Zarif's shop and started the task of tearing it all apart and putting it back together. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

I was up at Gridlife at Gingerman raceway with the car last weekend, and the car for the most part ran flawlessly. There are a few fitment issues overall but, whatever it's a racecar.

On a quick side note, let me just say that Gridlife was a terrific event, I'd recommend everyone to head up there for the next one. It was truly a great experience.

Just remember, you can do whatever you put your mind to. Don't look at what you have to do all at once, hammer it down inch by inch and you'll knock down a mountain.

I learned that after the past 6 or 7 project cars I have owned. I try to keep that in mind in my daily life too. Great advice, and your post shows how true it is. Great work!

The *go fast* included removing roughly 200lbs. New IC piping and kicking the boost up.
